September 3 – 5. The Minnesota Twins will host our 50th Season Celebration Weekend at Target Field. Former players, front office personnel and key contributors from the Twins 50 seasons are being invited back to participate in these historic festivities. A wonderful new tradition at Target Field is the hoisting of the U.S. Flag by a soldier or veteran during the performance of the National Anthem. The flag is going to be raised each day during the 50th Season Celebration Weekend by a member of the Twins Platoon.
June 5th, Veterans Appreciation Picnic – 1 PM – 4 PM at Forest Lake Lakeside Park. Free picnic style meal, live music and guest speakers State Representative Bob Dettmer, Senator Ray Vandeveer and Christy Sauro author of the Twins Platoon. This annual event is put on by Crossroads Church as a way to thank and honor local veterans and their families.
May 31 Memorial Day Service held at the State Capital Wall. Author guest speaker. Special flag raising ceremony for the family members of Twins Platoon member “Skip” Schmidt. Time 3:00 pm. May 9 Metro Marines Twins Day Fundraiser. 1:10 PM at the Minnesota Twins VS Baltimore Orioles baseball game. This event has been “Sold Out”. March 28 3nd Annual Vietnam High School Scholarship Award Program, 1:00 P.M. Forest Lake Senior High. Guests include: Television and Radio celebrity Stan Turner, Executive director of Vets for Freedom Pete Hegseth. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann will be presenting a Presidential Unit Citation to Vietnam Veterans Bob Hathaway. Author, Christy Sauro will speak about Bruce Sommer and his drawing “Anguish”.
February 11 A collaboration between Chisago Lakes Schools and Chisago Lakes Area Library. Location Chisago Lakes Middle School Media Center at 4:30 p.m to 5:30 p.m. Author presentation followed by a book signing. Optional 5:50 PM Dinner - $6.50 with advanced reservations. September 1 Author Series sponsored by the Minnesota Twins Baseball Team organization. There will be an exclusive question and answer format with author for the season ticket holders in the Mirassou Winery Sunroom. The session will take place before the Tuesday evening game at 6:00 p.m. On the concourse during the game, from the 2nd - 7th inning, the Twins organization will host a book signing open to the public.
